The XO Awards, sponsored by Kirton & McConkie and KSL-TV/Bonneville
International, is an awards ceremony designed to celebrate amazing people
who do extraordinary acts of kindness yet never receive the recognition they
deserve.

Nominations were gathered from across the state earlier this year. From
those nominations, six people were selected by judging panels consisting of
a fire station, a Boy Scout troop and a group of 2006, 2007 and 2008 XO
Awards winners.

The 2009 XO Award recipients included:
Jessica Hamilton, Lehi: Jessica, a college student, spent two years in
India as a volunteer at leprosy colonies at her own expense. She has also
volunteered at a local literacy center, battered women’s shelter, served
meals to the homeless and participated in various charity fundraisers.
Kaziah Hancock, Manti: Kaziah started Project Compassion, an organization
of volunteer artists who paint portraits of fallen soldiers. Kaziah has
personally completed 634 pieces, while her organization has framed and
shipped 1,700 portraits to family members.
Cody Trotter, Spanish Fork: In addition to running a successful design and
construction business, Cody has donated his time and resources to helping
others.
These award recipients were honored at an awards ceremony on Aug. 18. For
